District Facts

The Ripley Union Lewis Huntington Local School District is located along the Ohio River in southern Brown County, Ohio, approximately an hour east of Cincinnati. The district covers 99 square miles along the western edge of the rolling foothills of Appalachia. 

 

The district is a rural, farming community. Local farms raise beef, soybeans, corn, hay, and tobacco. There are several vineyards across the area. The villages of Ripley, Aberdeen, and Higginsport support a variety of local businesses. 

The Ripley Union Lewis Huntington School District has three buildings that serve the pre-K through 12 student population. The Elementary School is located in Ripley, Ohio and serves approximately 270 students in grades pre-K through 4. The Middle School is located in Aberdeen, Ohio and serves about 270 students in grades 5-8. The High School, also located in the village of Ripley, serves about 260 students in grades 9-12. 

The Ripley Union Lewis Huntington School District has enjoyed a long history of community support. The community has supported the district in adding three new facilities over the last 25 years. More recently, the community approved a Permanent Improvement levy that has allowed the district to update various technology components and implement a 1:1 Chromebook initiative in grades K through 12.

 

Several community and booster groups support the schools and various student activities, providing students with extended opportunities for learning.
